This site focuses on using blogs in the classroom. According to the site, there are many benefits from using blogs in the classroom. They are: allowing teachers to communicate with students, giving students opportunities to read and write, using it as a motivational tool for students to participate in class, it is an effective forum for discussion and collaboration, and blogs enable scaffold learning and mentoring to occur. The four basic functions of blogs in the classroom are: classroom management, collaborations, discussions, and student portfolios. Students must be educated about blogging before doing it and the teacher must be knowledgeable about it.
I would use blogging in my classroom to help my students with their reading and typing skills. Having students type responses to approved blogs is a great way to enhance their typing skills. Reading the blogs whether silently or out loud gives the students a fun way to practice their reading skills. I would also use blogs as a way for students to consider other bloggers' points of view on certain topics.I also believe that blogs help encourage student participation in class.

I think using your blog to help students read and type is a great idea. It is a great way to have the students express themselves and find find out what their peers are thinking. It is also a great way to teach technology in the classroom, especially if the students are unfamiliar with the blogging format.
